SALT LAKE CITY, UT – A man in his 40s is in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle in South Salt Lake, KSL reports.
The incident occurred on 500 West when the bicyclist turned onto 3900 South at the same time as a pickup truck, according to Sgt. Melody Cutler of the Unified Police Department.
The bicyclist “went right in front of the truck and hit the side of the car, which launched him into the air, causing some severe head injuries,” Cutler said.
The cyclist was rushed to the hospital where he remains in extremely critical condition.
The driver of the car was cooperative and was not injured in the incident, according to Cutler.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
