LEHI, UT – A gasoline tanker truck carrying a flammable liquid caught on fire on I-15 near 1550 North before 6 a.m. Thursday.
KUTV said the back of the trailer’s tire came off and caught fire. The semi-truck driver pulled over and tried to use a fire blanket to try to put out the fire. When that didn’t work, the driver unhooked the truck’s rear and moved the semi and trailer away from the scene, and called first responders. Fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to extinguish the flames.
No one was hurt in this incident.
All the southbound lanes on I-15 closed for safety concerns but reopened by 7:30 a.m.
