HUNTSVILLE, UT – A man from Mexico lost his life when his commercial dump truck went down the Pineview Reservoir near Huntsville before 4 p.m. Friday.
According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, this collision occurred on State Route 167, also known as Trapper’s Lodge Road, just before Utah 139. The driver lost control of his brakes, going downhill. He kept pushing the brake pedals when smoke appeared from the truck hauling soil.
Officials said the motorist tried to reduce his speed by “driving on the soft shoulder.” The driver was supposed to stop at a stop sign. However, the vehicle drove through a field before going down the Pineview Reservoir.
First responders later found the man and his truck and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Troopers have not released the name and age of this man. More information will be posted when it becomes available.
