Volunteering with Tan’s Treats

When you’re living in a great place like Utah, it’s easy to think that hunger is only a concern in other parts of the world. But that’s simply not the case.

In Utah, food insecurity affects about 10.4% of households. Utah Food Bank reports that one in nine children in Utah deals with hunger, and 289,000 Utah residents are at risk of missing a meal each day.




For many families, school meals provide a much-needed resource for children, especially as the costs of many food items are going up. At Swenson & Shelley, our team volunteers once a month at Tan’s Treats to pack weekend lunches for children who rely on school lunches throughout the week. We love including our family and friends in these events. According to Tan’s Treats, Swenson & Shelley donated enough funds to provide over 30,000 meals to kids in Washington County last year alone. Being able to help this incredible organization ties into our firm and what we are. We are currently planning for the upcoming school year and how we can best support the school-aged children in the community.

Kevin Swenson was raised in Bountiful, Utah, and is a co-founding partner of Swenson & Shelley. After graduating from Bountiful High School, Kevin attended business school at Westminster College.
