1. How do I pick the best attorney for my negligent security injury claim?

If you’re looking for an attorney in the state of Utah after you’ve been injured by a store or property manager’s inadequate security or failure to provide security, you want to look at a couple of different things. You want to get a personal injury attorney who deals with that type of claim and who deals with injury claims regularly. You want somebody who has experience in dealing with the negligent security, understands the terms, understands the area of law, and understands the information that needs to be gathered.

One of the other things that’s important, if you’ve been injured, in order to protect your rights, you want to hire somebody who’s a trial attorney. You want somebody who, if the insurance company isn’t fair with you, is willing to push the matter to a trial and seek fair compensation for you, rather than somebody who’s used to just settling cases and is going to take whatever number the insurance company gives them. You want to make sure you get fairly treated.

Those are some of the things to do in trying to hire an attorney who deals with negligent security or failure to provide security.

2. Should I speak to an insurance company about my negligent security claim?

In a negligent security case, an insurance company is going to contact you and want a statement. If you’re not required to give them a statement, which in most cases you aren’t, I recommend that you don’t give them a statement without having talked to an attorney or making sure that your rights are protected. I think that that’s the best approach, and it protects you and your rights.

3. Can I recover compensation if I was injured due to negligent security?

In the state of Utah, if you’re injured on someone else’s property, that doesn’t make them responsible automatically. In order to have a claim against, say, a drug store that you go into, the drug store would have to be negligent in some activity that results in you getting hurt. For example, if they know there’s a lot of crime there and they don’t have security, or their security is inadequate, and you’re injured as a result of that, you may have a claim against that drug store for the inadequate security that was provided or the lack of security that may have been provided. Each of these cases depends on the specific facts of the case and what people knew or should have known, but it’s a potential claim.

4. Can I recover compensation if I was assaulted at a hotel?

If you were assaulted at a hotel in the state of Utah, you may have a claim against the hotel owner, the hotel operator, or others. If you’ve been seriously injured as a result of that type of incident, you should make sure that, first, you’re getting the medical treatment that you need. Get yourself healthy, and take care of your injuries. If you think there’s a claim there, you should talk to an attorney who has experienced that type of claim and follow up and see if, in fact, you have a claim and what you can do about that claim.
