Troopers ID driver killed in big rig crash near Parleys Canyon

PARLEYS CANYON, UT – Utah Department of Public Safety has confirmed the identity of the driver killed in a semi-truck rollover crash on I-80 near Parleys Canyon Monday.

DPS said the collision occurred before 9:30 p.m. when Vincent Hakizuwera, 29, from Rosharon, TX, failed to negotiate a curve, causing his Freightliner semi-trailer to drift off the road and overturn on its side.

The force of this wreck caused Hakizuwera to be thrown from the truck and die from his injuries.

The collision had blocked several westbound lanes, which were closed for several hours before one lane reopened at 12:30 a.m. All stayed close. However, all lanes have reopened since.
