SANPETE COUNTY, UT – One life was claimed after a three-vehicle crash involving a truck with an attached trailer hauling a boat.
The collision occurred on the southbound lanes of SR-89 around 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from DPS.
The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with the trailer almost missed an exit. The driver took the exit at the last minute, and then the truck slid and got caught in a gate.
Another driver helped the driver and passenger of the pickup truck, but the trailer came out and blocked the northbound lanes.
A driver of a third vehicle was traveling in the northbound lanes and approached where the trailer was sticking out. The driver attempted to avoid the trailer but could not stop in time and slammed into it.
The impact of that collision pushed the trailer and hit the passenger of the Silverado.
The passenger was identified as 43-year-old Dwight Davis.
Davis was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to fatal injuries.
No injuries were reported for the driver of the Silverado or for the driver of the third vehicle.
