Failure to yield causes left-turn crash in St. George

ST. GEORGE, UT – One woman was hospitalized following a left-turn crash on Dixie Downs Drive before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

According to St. George News, the collision occurred because a driver of a white Honda Civic did not yield to oncoming traffic when she wanted to turn left from Dixie Downs Drive onto 504 North Street. As a result, she collided with a northbound gray sedan.

The impact caused the Civic to spin 180 degrees before coming to rest on 540 North. The gray sedan turned sideways, and the vehicle faced perpendicular, blocking the northbound lanes.

The driver of a gray sedan, a man, was spared from injuries but was “shaken up.” The Civic driver was charged with failing to yield to oncoming traffic and taken to St. George Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

One northbound lane was closed until the scene was cleared around 3:50 p.m. All southbound lanes remained open.
