Failing tire leads to American Fork semi-truck, Dodge sideswipe crash

AMERICAN FORK, UT – A driver of a Dodge Journey was driving on a spare tire on I-15 when the tire started to fail, leading a semi-truck to sideswipe it Wednesday.

This collision occurred around 8:45 a.m. When the semi-truck driver saw that the Dodge slowed down, he or she tried to drift into another lane, which caused the sideswipe crash, FOX 13 reported.

The impact of this side swipe crash then caused the semi-truck to jackknife, and sand from the trailers spilled onto the interstate, resulting in significant cleanup and closure of five lanes that lasted until approximately 11:30 a.m.

Despite the wreck, both drivers were unwounded.
