ST. GEORGE, UT – Firefighters were called to the scene of a dump truck fire on I-15 North at mile marker 8 before 3 p.m. Wednesday, St. George News revealed.
It is not immediately clear what prompted this fire, although troopers speculated that “it could have been chemicals, (or) something hot.” The driver of the garbage truck, owned by Empire Waste Services, was carrying construction debris and noticed smoke coming from the truck immediately. He was able to pull over just before the pile of rubbish caught fire.
St. George fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to extinguish the flames.
No one, including the truck driver, was hurt. No other people were involved in this incident. In addition, no nearby vegetation or property was damaged.
