UINTAH COUNTY, UT – Icy roads and strong winds could have been contributing factors in a fatal crash on State Route 40 Monday.
The collision occurred before 8 p.m. on the eastbound lanes near Vernal, Gephardt Daily reported.
The driver of a Dodge pickup truck lost control of her vehicle, which caused it to travel off course and roll over several times. The passenger, a 47-year-old man, was trapped inside, and the driver was thrown.
The man and woman were transported to a hospital, where the woman eventually succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
It is unclear if the man is in stable condition.
Impairment does not appear to be a cause of Monday’s crash. Additional details are under investigation.
