1 hurt, 1 dead after Tooele wrong-way crash with semi-truck

TOOELE COUNTY, UT – Impairment may have been a potential factor in a wrong-way crash between a car and a semi-truck Saturday.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. on westbound I-80, KSL TV revealed. A driver of a car was traveling east on the westbound lanes when he or she collided head-on with the semi-truck.

As indicated in the photos, the impact left the semi-truck with significant damage to the front, though the semi-truck driver only sustained minor injuries.

Another vehicle struck the crash’s debris; however, no injuries were reported for that driver.

The driver of the car succumbed to fatal injuries.

Officials have not confirmed the driver’s identity.

The crash is under investigation.
