1 dead, 1 hurt after West Valley City big rig, SUV crash

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – One was sent to the hospital in critical condition, and one life was claimed in a crash Monday. 

The collision, between a small SUV and semi-truck, occurred around 9 a.m. at the intersection of 3500 South and Mountain View Corridor, KSL TV reported. 

The impact caused the semi-truck to roll over and diesel fuel to come pouring out. The driver of the SUV was hospitalized for critical life-threatening injuries, and the semi-truck driver succumbed to fatal injuries. 

Closures were prompted on the southbound lanes of Mountain View Corridor and all travel lanes on 3500 South; all lanes have reopened since.
